Description
This article focuses on the treatment of malignant tumors of the eye in geriatric patients. Vision is one of human's most cherished possessions. The primary care physician is in a unique position in eye care. Many older patients do not routinely see an ophthalmologist, depending instead upon general practitioners for detection of ocular problems. Primary care physicians must therefore be constantly aware of the eye during every patient examination. Like other specialties, ophthalmology has seen amazing advances in recent years in the diagnosis and treatment of eye diseases. Clinicians need to be aware of the primary conditions that may require actions to make the patient more comfortable or to prevent blindness, as well as conditions that are secondary to systemic disease and may require a lifesaving diagnosis.
